Arizona Sunset Assisted Living is a new and beautiful 24 hour assisted living home located at the base of the San Tan Mountains in the rural community of Queen Creek, Arizona. This gorgeous home has been converted to accommodate the needs of individuals requiring specialized care without having the normal clinical environment associated with many other facilities. We are actively managed by a nurse practitioner, licensed for up to ten residents but only taking up to 8 at this time, with private and semi private rooms available.
We pride ourselves in providing an environment that is both comforting and enjoyable. With regularly planned activities, the residents can choose to participate in fun-filled music recitals, nature walks, daily movies, painting lessons and more. Our meals are prepared daily with fresh ingredients and incorporate daily nutritional factors.
Meet Justin & Audra (owners): We are natives of Chandler, and 3rd and 4th generation Arizonans! Our family of 7 looks forward to making your loved ones a part of our family as we play an active part in running Arizona Sunset Assisted Living. Although we do not live onsite, Arizona Sunset Assisted Living is a child friendly home where our children visit often to uplift and entertain our residents.
Audra holds a master's degree in counseling from NAU, is a licensed counselor (LAC) as well as a certified caregiver. Her work history has been in social work as an adoption caseworker, where she primarily worked with birthmothers to help prepare them and support them through their adoptive placement and running the weekly birth parent support group. Being a part of the miracle of forming families was life changing for her. "I have always felt that the two most spiritual and sacred events in life are birth and death. In addition to being a mother and birthing my own 5 children, I spent 5 years on the side of birth guiding babies to their families, running a support group to make sure our grieving birthmothers found support and healing. I hold a special place in my heart for those babies and women whose lives I was a part of. I also spent time interviewing and inspecting homes of hopeful adoptive couples so they could become certified to adopt, as well as being their advocate in court when the time came to finalize the adoption of their precious bundle." Working with families who were at times in crisis mode helps her in providing understanding and comfort to families who may be nervous about moving a loved one into an assisted living home.
Justin's familiarity with caregiving comes from the experience of growing up with a disabled family member. His sister, a year younger than he, suffered a debilitating bacterial illness shortly after birth that left her with multiple disabilities including being blind, unable to talk, eat, drink, or walk independently. She was an incredibly special member of their family and their love for her grew out of their tender service to her for the 25 years of her life. Justin's parents, and mother especially, were amazing examples of love and sacrifice as they cared for their daughter in their own home for the entirety of her life. This life experience makes it easy for Justin to feel comfortable around children and adults needing special care. During his college years, he worked as a school bus driver with a regular daily route of driving the special needs bus, which was a joy for him. Justin also holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from ASU.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! Our goal is to make the lives of the elderly in our care as full as they are capable, and the transition of end of life as precious, safe, and comforting as possible. One of our greatest goals, outside of top of the line care, is reducing the anxiety and guilt of family members. It is difficult to put someone you love in an assisted living home and we understand that. The greatest compliment we have received was from the daughter of the first resident to live in our home, upon her passing. She tearfully old us that ours was the first home in which her mother didn't beg her to take her home with her when she visited. She told us her mother counted OUR children as her own, and felt our love toward her. Most importantly, her mother felt safe and secure in our care. This is the kind of relief we hope to provide to all families who entrust us with their loved ones.
